Sustainable yarn that does not require long transport routes, raw material imports and exploitation was just wishful thinking for a long time.

Of her own accord and after many long hikes, countless exciting encounters and a lot of effort, Dagmar from Maehrle wolle managed to win wool from German sheep and traditional shepherds and process it here in Germany and our neighboring countries.

A lot of passion paired with careful treatment of the raw material

and a lot of expertise from the shepherds are the cornerstones of the concept.

The Alb Sheep

100% virgin wool

100g = approx. 180m (196 yds) ball

4mm - 6mm needle size (US 6-10)

The Albschaf wool consists of 100% pure new wool (Virgin Wool) from sheep in the Swabian Alb. It is made of soft merino wool, which is therefore also suitable for textiles that are worn next to the skin.

The dyeing technique gives the surface a beautiful batik effect.

The yarn was sheared, spun and dyed exclusively in Germany.

100% pure new wool

100g approx. 180m (197 yds)

4mm - 6mm needle size (US 6 - 10)

The wool consists of 100% pure new wool (Virgin Wool) spun as wick wool from sheep on the island of Föhr, Germany.

Its texture is similar to Icelandic wool, but it is softer.

It is rough, but not scratchy, as the Föhrer herd also consists of Romney sheep and Romney crossbreeds, which have very fine fleece.

It is ideal for needle size 4 and, due to its robustness, is very well suited for home textiles and "over it" textiles.

The wool was sheared, spun and dyed exclusively in Germany.
