EDIT August 2021: The latest Katla is made from 100% Icelandic lambswool
EDIT October 2023: Ný Katla will replace Katla. It's the same yarn, but 2x 2-ply instead of 4-ply.
With Katla, Hélène Magnússon has created the first Icelandic sports/DK yarn and sock yarn made from soft Icelandic lamb's wool with a touch of silk (1%). Katla is just as strong and durable as any other sock yarn, blended with synthetic fibers using the coarser hairs of Icelandic wool and silk as nylon. This versatile yarn can be knitted with different needle sizes and creates beautiful socks, as well as light sweaters, scarves and mittens and is even suitable for baby clothes.
